Pursuing Exceptional Postsecondary Opportunities

Friday, September 10 was the deadline to mail applications to Senator George LeMieux requesting his nomination for an appointment to the US Service Academies (the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, the Military Academy at West Point, and the Naval Academy at Annapolis).

I have watched two young men on my shortlist make the effort to pursue these exceptional postsecondary academic and leadership development opportunities. On Friday, both young men had a parent who made it to the post office to mail the application packets.

We often wonder about the quality of our youth. I witnessed reminders that we still have young men in our midst who are willing to make a commitment to service. I also noticed that their efforts are inspiring others to “dare ask the question”: “Is my preparation in high school and at a community college good enough to gain access to America’s Best Colleges?”

In His Service,

Jason
